The researchers at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, Massachusetts created this gel. They intend to apply it to the surgical site to deliver immunotherapy. They are applied in cases where surgery has been performed to remove a cancerous tumor. As is the case in these developments, the biodegradable gel was first tested on mice.
Initially, the tests were done to evaluate its effectiveness in the context of breast cancer surgical cases.
